A Spring of Integrity. A Legacy of Guardianship.
Bumble & Birdie is not merely a studio of scent; it is a manifestation of a life lived in conversation with the land. Our Kaupapa is rooted in the belief that we do not own the earth—we are its kaitiaki (guardians), tasked with protecting the essence of Aotearoa for the generations to follow.
The Source | Puna Pākehā
The heart of this brand flows from my identity as Puna Pākehā—a spring of heritage that has been nourished and shaped by my deep, enduring connections to Tainui Waikato. To belong to the Waikato is to understand the power of the river: its strength, its constant movement, and its role as a life-giver.
This connection is the "Puna" (the spring) from which our values rise. It is a commitment to walking with integrity in two worlds, honoring the wisdom of the tangata whenua while tending to the botanical traditions of my own lineage.
Our Guiding Principles
Kaitiakitanga (Guardianship)
We do not harvest without permission. We do not take without giving back. Every botanical we forage and every flora we distil is handled with the reverence it deserves. We are committed to leaving our coastlines cleaner and our forests thicker than we found them.
Pono (Integrity)
Integrity is found in the "Micro-batch." It is found in the transparency of our ingredients and the honesty of our hands. We choose the slow way—the hard way—because the earth is not a resource to be exploited, but a relative to be respected.
Whanaungatanga (Connection)
Bumble & Birdie exists to bridge the gap between the modern "Sanctuary" of your home and the wild "Sanctuary" of the forest. Through our rituals, we invite you into a relationship with the seasons, the flora, and the spirit of the land.

A Tribal Business Partnership
We are proud to be a registered tribal member business within the Waikato Tainui Puna Pakihi collective. Being part of this whānau reinforces our commitment to the economic and cultural wellbeing of our rohe.
